Australian Crested Doves
The Australian Crested Dove (Ocyphaps lophotes) is often referred to as a Crested Pigeon or a topknot pigeon. These small, mellow doves have long feathers on top of their heads that stick straight up. The Crested Dove is also known for the distinctive whistling sound their wings make when they take off.
These doves are very social and can be animated when interacting with humans. Feathers are gray with some brown and green, and black and bronze striped wings. Male and females of this breed look alike.
Doves move about by flying back and forth and need a wide cage with ample space. Caged doves also need a way to bathe. Doves, like other poultry, need grit in their diet as well as calcium during breeding season.
Juvenile doves are 3-6 months old and straight run (unsexed) only. Minimum 2 doves.
